Our 2021 Hybrid Fall Business Conference is set for Tuesday, September 28 through Friday, October 1. With just a few weeks left to register and book a room at the Intercontinental Kansas City at the Plaza, I want to share a couple of conference insider secrets! We have scheduled one of the most exciting line-ups of speakers and special guests, and you won’t want to miss a thing.

This year's Hybrid Fall Business Conference will begin Tuesday with Missouri Ag Law and Foreign Ownership of Land. There, you will be introduced to various issues that may arise in different real estate transactions, especially those related to agricultural property. This includes statutory restrictions on foreign land ownership in Missouri, Missouri fence law, adverse possession and easements. RLI will host a second class on Wednesday, titled Online Mapping Technology - All Maps Are Somehow Inaccurate! If you attend one or or both of these CE courses, be sure to register for the RLI Farm Tour and BBQ on Tuesday evening.

The following days are full of governance meetings, more educational opportunities and networking activities. Things officially kick off Wednesday afternoon at the Opening General Session, followed by our Welcome Reception. In the evening, all Capitol Club Investors ($250+ RPAC Investors) can join us for the Capitol Club Reception and Robert W. Borgmann RPAC Auction. This is the perfect time to complete your 2021 pledge and assist Missouri REALTORS® in reaching fundraising goals! The Live Auction begins at 6:00, and the Online Auction opens on Friday, September 24 and closes immediately after the Live Auction. All members are encouraged to bid in the online auction!

Thursday morning, we invite you to start the day off by burning calories and sipping on some bubbly with Sunrise Mimo-Ga. (It’s all about balance, people!) After breakfast, we scheduled a busy day of governance work, followed by a Lunch and Learn and the Emerging Issues Forum.

I’m VERY EXCITED about the Emerging Issues Forum! We invited Keynote Speaker Bill Dedman, a Pulitzer and Peabody award-winning investigative reporter and a New York Times No. 1 bestselling author. In 2019, he published a gripping and devastating investigative report about Long Island’s residential real estate brokerages who reinforced racial segregation through illegal steering of customers. I hope you’ll join us on Thursday as Bill recounts his investigation into widespread discrimination by real estate agents. It’s going to be a seriously thought-provoking conversation about an important issue.

Thursday’s festivities wrap up with the Roaring Into the 20's Cocktail Reception, hosted by the Women’s Council. Although it’s not required, we strongly encourage breaking out your favorite flappers, feathers and fedoras. Best-dressed gets a special prize, and I look forward to seeing you show off your finery! With signature drinks and tasty desserts, you can bid on silent auction baskets and dance the night away with the Louis Pettinelli Jazz Quartet and Vocalist. It’s going to be a blast, I guarantee it.

Following an exciting Thursday evening, the conference comes to a close on Friday morning with the Board of Directors meeting. It feels bittersweet, as this will be my last one as your State President.

As we prepare to reunite for the events I’ve mentioned and MORE, please keep in mind the intention we set at the beginning of my term. Ideas matter. And let me be clear. I want you all at the table. I want you to ask questions, and I want to hear your ideas. Diverse voices, people and viewpoints from all around the state can only strengthen Missouri REALTORS®. I ask that you come with an open mind, open heart and open ears, and we’ll get down to the business of the largest trade association in the State of Missouri.

Check out the full Fall Business Conference schedule as well as special events and finalize your plans to attend in-person or virtually. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or the Missouri REALTOR® staff. I am profoundly proud of what we have planned, and I can’t wait to share it with you soon. Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

I attended another large group meeting last week. One of the features was a choice of colored wristbands for social distancing preferences.
Red-Happy to see or meet you, but please keep your distance
Yellow-Elbow bumps and Toe taps are fine, but lets use caution
Green-No restrictions. Handshakes and Hugs welcome.
