We have all had a chance to get back to our desks after a busy week in Jefferson City. Hundreds of Missouri REALTORS descended on our state capitol to tell our lawmakers what is good for the real estate industry. Then, our Association conducted our business meetings under the new O2 Initiative.
As we do after every business meeting, we survey attendees to understand their experience and to help us improve for future meetings. A central element of our meetings was the O2 Initiative which is designed to enable broad based work groups to develop, design and implement new MAR offerings that provide true value to our membership. The survey told us two things loud and clear. First, we are on the right path. Almost 2/3 of survey respondents indicated that they either liked or loved the new O2 process. Equally important is that just 5% said they wanted the old structure back. The other clear message is there is a lot of work to do to truly make this the "right" process. We have to improve organization and communications. We need to better train our chairs, vice chairs and staff. We need to better set expectations. Some of the challenges were anticipated while others were a surprise. Either way, we are listening and we fully intend that the April meetings will be closer to what we all expect. At the same time, closer does not mean perfect and it is likely we will discover some new things that need to be fixed when we read the April surveys.
We love your feedback and if you did not get a chance to complete the survey or if you just want to expand on your thoughts, please drop me a line. We do want to hear and we do listen.
Till next time...
