Missouri REALTORS® are not only real estate professionals, they’re so much more. They dedicate their time to serving on school boards, in elected positions and volunteering their time to make communities a better place to be. They’re educators, serving on panels and facilitating industry discussions. Their philanthropic efforts are inspiring and the difference they are making within their communities is significant. Our Member Spotlight series highlights these efforts and introduces some of our wonderful members!
This month, we are shining the Member Spotlight on Gerrie Moore.
As a member of the Tri-Lakes Board of REALTORS®, Gerrie Moore is naturally involved in her community. During her work, she saw that there were families in need in her area. Gerrie decided to take action, and she founded Jeans for Teens.
Jeans for Teens provides a new pair of jeans to kids in need at the beginning of each school year. The organization purchases new jeans for students in grades seven through twelve. Gerrie chose to focus on jeans because they can be worn multiple times without needing to be washed, and they can be worn in any season.
The mission of Jeans for Teens goes above and beyond providing new clothing; it provides confidence to the students and helps them to start the school year in a positive mindset. The gesture also alleviates stress from parents who need help.
Gerrie founded Jeans for Teens two years ago. She is committed to every aspect of the organization, including fundraising, planning, volunteering and recruiting. With Gerrie’s leadership, Jeans for Teens has given more than 100 students a new pair of jeans. The organization has been so successful that Gerrie hopes to expand the Jeans for Teens mission to other parts of Missouri.
If you’re in the community spotlight or know someone who is, let us know. We’d love to shine our Missouri REALTORS® Spotlight on you!
