It's here...our first meeting of 2013. I have an excited feeling, a high anticipation level. I can't wait to see what YOU can do with this new governing system....O2! Your Exec, Mission Committees and Output Group leaders had an important and successful get together last week to prepare for helping this new structure take off this week in a positive and productive manner. Staff is super geared up to dive in and give all the assistance they can. We are all kind of standing on the track bouncing on our toes, like runners about to begin a race, waiting to lean over and set our feet in those blocks and get ready for that starter to fire the pistol. I think it's going to be fun and stimulating, however, it will probably also be confusing and a bit chaotic too as we race down this track we've all never been on! It's not that we haven't done such good and even great things in the past, it's just that we needed a new way to do new good things in today's environment. You know I'm one of the "old dogs"...an involved member since 1982. So I have labored alongside all of you for many years and I am convinced this new plan to deliver services and programs to our members....even those who don't have a clue or care what we're doing...is perfectly timed. Things in our markets are changing for the positive and so are things in our Missouri REALTORS. So when you pack your toothpaste and underwear this week to head to Jefferson City, bring along a big bag of energy and patience. We're going to need all of it you have.
And bring along your enthusiasm and informed opinions to share with your legislators as we invade the Capitol Building on Tuesday. The Inauguration will have been the day before so everyone will be ready to get going. Let's make sure they understand where we think the direction for support of the REALTOR Party is. Bill Malkasian, NAR REALTOR Party leader, will set the tone for us Tuesday before we troop to the Capitol.
And this week you choose a new team member for the 2013 leadership team. We will be selecting a new Treasurer for 2014 who will serve as a member of hte team in 2013 as Treasurer-Elect. Two good candidates .... Ryan Gattermeier and Miles Noennig. You can look them up in the member section of The Landing.
Lastly, I feel more excited right now about our real estate business. Doesn't it feel like the attitude of the public has changed? Like they have decided it's time to go on with their plans, that the worst is over, that the other shoe has dropped? In my market, the State Capitol area, we are always so sensitive to what the government is doing so sometimes I think we react more strongly to what the politicians are doing...or not doing. Our market is actually good and I believe that 2013 will be a good year for real estate in Missouri. Our attitudes help or hinder how the public feels about real estate so my hope for each of you is that it feels better in your area as well.
