We're excited to announce that we have six REALTORS® serving as either Chair or Vice Chair of House committees.

They are:

Jean Evans R Dist. 99
Chair Economic Development, St. Louis

Tom Hannegan R Dist. 65
Chair Local Government, St. Charles

Hannah Kelly R Dist. 141
Chair Appropriations Subcommittee on Ag., Conservation,
Natural Resources and Economic Development, Mountain Grove

Becky Ruth R Dist.114
Chair Transportation, Festus

Cody Smith R. Dist. 163
Chair Budget, Carthage

Derek Grier R. Dist. 100
Vice-Chair Economic Development, St. Louis

Representative Evans and Representative Grier are district neighbors - district 100 and 99 share a common border.

Representative Jeff Porter, the last of the seven REALTORS® in the House, is serving his first term. Being named either a chair or vice chair in the first year of the first term is extremely rare.

Bills:
Rep. Cody Smith has introduced HB 106. This bill provides that a real estate licensee shall not be liable for the accuracy of any information about the size of a property or improvements on the property, if the licensee discloses the source of the information, unless the licensee knew the information was false or the licensee acted with reckless disregard as to whether such information was true or false.

The same bill, SB 36, has been introduced in the Senate by Senator Jeannie Riddle. Senator Riddle was the sponsor of a similar bill last session.

Other issues this session include action on Low Income Housing Tax Credits; on Property Assessed Clean Energy or PACE; a substantial change in the notary legislation including the use of remote electronic notarization, and service dog legislation.

I went to the State of the State speech last Wednesday. Governor Parson elected to do the presentation - a move everyone really appreciated. His speech laid out his vision for changes that needed to be made to position Missouri to move forward on Infrastructure and Job training and creation.

I don’t generally use the word inspirational in terms of Governor’s speech’s, but I will in this case.
