President’s Day and Honoring Those Who Have Paved the Way

Missouri REALTORS Past PresidentsAsk anybody and they’ll tell you President’s Day, celebrated once a year, was founded to honor those who have held “The Highest Office in the Land.” Do I agree; absolutely! But with that, I also believe President’s Day is a time to celebrate Past Presidents who on the local, state and national level have given their blood, sweat and tears to lead us to where we are today. More importantly, to pave the way for individuals such as myself, to serve the greatest REALTORS® out there.

Missouri REALTORS®, founded in 1936, has been nothing short of fortunate to have received the leadership it has over the past 60 years. Individuals such as Elizabeth J. Mendenhall, 2010 President of Missouri REALTORS® and our current 2018 President of the National Association of REALTORS®, continue to set a standard and represent Missouri REALTORS® in a way that is unparalleled when compared to other Associations throughout the United States. And let’s not forget our many other local as well as state President’s, who in their own way, were a driving force in the success that Missouri REALTORS® has seen since its founding.

I’d like to leave you with this. “A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others. He does not set out to be a leader but becomes one by the quality of his actions and the integrity of his intent.” – Anonymous

As we celebrate President’s Day today, please join me in remembering those past and present who have gone above and beyond within our industry to provide individuals, no matter their background, with the ability to live the American Dream.
