A New Governance Structure Designed for the Future of Missouri REALTORS®

By Missouri REALTORS posted an hour ago

Missouri REALTORS® is evolving - and our governance structure is evolving with it.

Beginning January 1, 2027, Missouri REALTORS® will operate under a new governance structure designed to better support our mission, strengthen collaboration, and create more meaningful opportunities for members to get involved. This update reflects thoughtful planning, member feedback, and a commitment to ensuring our volunteer leadership structure is responsive, inclusive, and effective in today’s fast‑moving real estate industry.

What’s Changing - and Why It Matters

The updated governance structure streamlines how our association operates while opening the door for broader participation. Key enhancements include:

  • Transition to standing and ad hoc committees to reduce redundancy and meeting overlap
  • A 20% increase in appointed positions, creating more leadership opportunities for members
  • Standardized appointments with staggered terms and term limits for consistency and continuity
  • All committees reporting directly to the Executive Committee, helping reduce perceived hierarchies and improve alignment
  • Clear attendance expectations to support accountability and engagement
  • Centralized funding through a new Committee Initiative Reserve Fund
  • More time dedicated to meaningful committee discussions, including open forum participation
  • Broader perspectives at the table, with each committee including:
    • An ex‑officio Executive Committee member
    • A local board or association executive or staff member

Together, these changes create a governance model that is more collaborative, transparent, and nimble - one that allows Missouri REALTORS® to respond effectively to industry challenges while elevating member voices.

How Committee Meetings Will Work

Each standing committee meeting will include a forum discussion portion, during which any member is welcome to participate. This forum is designed to encourage open dialogue, idea‑sharing, and feedback from the broader membership.

After the forum concludes, the committee will move into its working session to consider motions and take action on items before them. All committees will report directly to the Executive Committee, ensuring alignment and clarity across the organization.

You can explore the purpose and focus of each standing committee on the Governance Structure page of our website.
