Missouri REALTORS® are more than just real estate professionals. They are community leaders, educators, volunteers, and philanthropists who make a meaningful impact in their local areas and beyond. Our Leadership Spotlight series celebrates these dedicated members and highlights their contributions to both the real estate industry and their communities.
This month, we shine the spotlight on Sonya Sewald, a Franklin County Board of REALTORS® (FCBR) leader with a record of service in advocacy, professional standards, and local government.
Sonya began her real estate career with a small brokerage in Sullivan, MO, and later opened her own office in Bourbon, MO. Within FCBR, she served as a Director and as President in 2023, and she is an active supporter of RPAC. Since 2022, she has served as Missouri REALTORS® State Political Coordinator for the Crawford & Dent County district (Representative John Hewkin). She currently serves as Legislative Chair of the FCBR Advocacy Committee under President Kim Oberkramer.
At the state level, Sonya served on the Missouri REALTORS® Grievance Committee and now holds a three‑year term on the Professional Standards Committee. She is a Director for the REALTORS® Land Institute – Missouri Chapter and represents FCBR as a Missouri REALTORS® State Director.
Sonya’s professional credentials include GRI, ABR, AHWD, and C2EX. She was honored with the FCBR 2022 REALTOR® Service Award and FCBR 2023 REALTOR® of the Year Award. Sonya is a proud 2024 Leadership Academy graduate.
Sonya’s community service includes serving as Secretary of the Bourbon Economic Development Group (2018–2025) and as an Alderman for the City of Bourbon (2020–2024).
