Columbia, Missouri – Missouri REALTORS® is pleased to announce Cory Roebuck of Branson, Missouri, has been named recipient of the 2023 Missouri Good Neighbor Award. This announcement took place at the Missouri REALTORS® Winter Business Conference in St. Louis on Thursday, January 18.

Awarded annually since 2011, the Missouri Good Neighbor Award recognizes a Missouri REALTOR® dedicated to volunteer service. Each year, this recipient receives a $2,500 check for their designated charity.

Founded in Detroit in 1952, the “100 Club” was developed after the fatal shooting of a young Detroit police officer. Moved by the situation, a local business owner wrote to 100 of his friends encouraging them to donate to a fund for the fallen officer – receiving a 100 percent response rate.

There are now “100 Clubs” throughout the nation, including the Taney County 100 Club, which Roebuck created in November 2020 after a near-death experience to help surviving families of Taney County, Missouri, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and paramedics killed or serious injured in the line of duty. “I have volunteered as a firefighter in Branson for over eleven years,” said Roebuck. “On a call in 2017, I almost died in the line of duty. In that moment, all I could think about was my family and who was going to care for them.”

The mission of the Taney County 100 Club is to deliver funds to the surviving spouse within 24 to 48 hours of their loss to help with immediate expenses that arise when that unfortunate day comes. “We realize that money can never make up for the loss of or disability of a loved one, but it can be helpful in covering immediate expenses.” – www.taneycoutny100club.com.
