Leadership Spotlight Denise Pittman

Missouri REALTORS® are so much more than just real estate professionals. They dedicate their time to serving on school boards and running for elected positions. They educate, serve on panels, volunteer and facilitate industry discussions. Their philanthropic efforts are inspiring, and the difference they are making within their communities is significant. Our Leadership Spotlight series highlights these efforts and introduces some of our wonderful members.

This month, we are shining the Leadership Spotlight on Doug Andrews.

Doug Andrews, from Century Realty, is a Missouri REALTOR® and devoted member of his Marshfield, MO community. In addition to his laudable commitment to our association and the real estate industry at large, Doug serves a number of volunteer organizations.

One of which, the Kiwanis Club, aims to improve the lives of children and communities through service. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers who are committed to serving their communities by addressing local needs and creating lasting change. The club's mission is accomplished through a variety of projects and programs, such as building playgrounds, sponsoring youth leadership programs and providing scholarships for college-bound students.

Volunteers like Doug - who has served as the president and once won Kiwanian of the Year - are essential to the success of Kiwanis Club. The organization relies on its members and other volunteers to serve as club officers, committee chairs and project leaders. Volunteers also play a critical role in fundraising, which enables Kiwanis to support local programs and projects.

In terms of other organizations served, Doug supports Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, A+ Educational Initiative, the University of Missouri, United Methodist, the Gro-Marshfield Initiative and the Southwest Missouri Turners Association. He is also a Score Mentor to new and emerging businesses.

In his role as a REALTOR®, Doug shows his commitment to the American dream of homeownership through his participation at the local, state and national level. In the greater Springfield area, Doug has served on numerous committees, including his service as the 2008 President of the Greater Springfield Board of REALTORS® (GSBOR). He also takes part in the GSBOR Leadership Academy and has spent many years teaching REALTOR® courses on organizing and managing real estate business. By getting involved locally, Doug has formed community connections and established himself as a reputable industry leader.

Regarding notable achievements at the local level, Doug was named GSBOR REALTOR® Salesperson of the Year in 2005 and Broker of the Year in 2010.
At the state level, Doug is a past graduate of the Missouri REALTORS® Leadership Academy and is involved in a number of Missouri REALTORS® initiatives. In addition to serving as a State Director and a member of the Consumer Engagement Output Group and Professional Development Output Group, to name a few, Doug was named the 2009 recipient of the Missouri REALTORS® Salesperson of the Year award and a 2011 recipient of Missouri REALTORS® REALTOR®/Broker of the Year award.

Doug is also an instrumental member of the Missouri REALTORS® Educational Foundation. In this role, Doug focuses on providing real estate-related educational resources to youth and adults in Missouri. Most recently, MREF launched It’s Your Move, a real estate consumer education course designed to educate high school students on topics related to credit, renting, buying, and selling a home.

On the national scale, Doug serves on two NAR committees - Land Use and Property Rights and Risk Management.

Politically, Doug is a major investor in the REALTOR® Political Action Committee. He has served as a State Legislative Coordinator and regularly attends REALTOR® Day’s visits to the Capitol, where he and other members advocate for private property owners and real estate interests at large.

We celebrate Doug for his commitment to his community and to his industry. Whether he’s bettering himself as a professional, building up his local REALTOR® Association, raising funds for RPAC or spending time with the local Kiwanis chapter, Doug has proven to be a team player, a thought leader and an excellent real estate professional.
