Missouri REALTORS® are so much more than just real estate professionals. They dedicate their time to serving on school boards and running for elected positions. They educate, serve on panels, volunteer and facilitate industry discussions. Their philanthropic efforts are inspiring, and the difference they are making within their communities is significant. Our Member Spotlight series highlights these efforts and introduces some of our wonderful members.
This month, we are shining the Member Spotlight on Tenesia Looney.
Tenesia Looney, from Keys Realty Group, Inc., is an active, essential member of the Kansas City realty community. She emphasizes and promotes diversity, equity and inclusion in all of her work. Her goal is to make the American Dream of homeownership accessible to everyone.
She achieves this in a number of ways. Tenesia established the bi-annual Kansas City Bus Tour and Home Show to commemorate the passing of the Fair Housing Act of 1968. This event educates people on the home buying experience, provides resources from around the community and offers a bus tour around the KC Urban Core to view affordable, renovated homes for sale. This strategy has already housed nearly 100 new homeowners and counting.
Tenesia also offers Walk-In Wednesdays at her brokerage, where individuals can come in after hours and ask questions about real estate. She has run workshops and seminars, as well as established a campaign to find 1,000 new homeowners within 12 months.
And it doesn’t stop there. In her free time, Tenesia volunteers at elementary schools. She also leads a number of events to give back to those in her community. Before school starts, Tenesia organizes a supply drive for students in need. There is an annual Thanksgiving dinner, where she helps feed around 300 families. And in the winter time, she plans a holiday drive to collect warm outerwear for homeless teenagers.
Tenesia won the 2019 Kansas City Regional Association of REALTORS® Community Service Award for her hard work on all of these endeavors, as well as for her commitment to Reconciliation Services and Thelma’s Kitchen.
We celebrate Tenesia Looney for her commitment to the real estate industry, to her community and to a brighter future of accessible, equitable homeownership in Missouri.
