Congratulations on getting your real estate license! We know it can be overwhelming when you’re new, but there are plenty of members willing to help get you started. Just ask! And of course, attend networking opportunities is of great benefit as well.

With three businesses conference taking place throughout the year – January, April and September – we encourage all REALTORS® to attend. Our conferences boast over 400 members in attendance, many of which are career brokers and top producers from across the state, so there’s plenty to learn. Visit our Upcoming Events page to learn more. More importantly, our members are happy to help get you pointed in the right direction. As you know, or will soon come to understand, a majority of an agent’s business comes from referrals and word of mouth. It’s incredibly important to reach out and build your sphere of influence as soon as possible. Starting with a Missouri REALTOS® business conference isn’t a bad idea.

In addition, and as a first-time conference attendee, you are eligible for our Business Conference Scholarship. Scholarships cover the cost of a shared double occupancy room for the Wednesday and Thursday evenings of the conference. Transportation, food and entry to special events during the conference are not provided. Each scholarship recipient will also be assigned a mentor to help navigate and network at the business conference. Mentors are qualified leaders at the state level who have previously attended business conferences and are looking to invest in the next generation of REALTORS®.

Here are some sample questions to consider asking your mentor:

  • What are your long-term goals within the real estate industry?
  • How did you identify your niche?
  • What resources have you found most helpful?
  • What’s your most successful marketing tactic?
  • How do you turn your leads into clients?
  • How do you schedule your day and manage your time?
  • What’s your biggest waste of time?
  • What’s your biggest struggle?
  • What resources do you recommend in helping me grow and succeed?

Don’t be afraid to ask an experienced agent to coffee or lunch. More times than not they’ll be happy to help – and you’re sure to walk away with additional knowledge related to getting your business up and going. Good luck!
