Spring is in the air, and for most people that means dedicating a day or two to spring cleaning. While vacuuming and organizing are important, this year make the chore a bit more fun by redecorating a room as well. Decorating can get expensive, but we have few low-cost ideas that can make a huge impact.

  1. Rearrange furniture. You’ve seen stagers transform a room by moving things around, so why not try it yourself? Rearranging furniture doesn’t cost anything, yet it makes a huge impact on any room. Changing where your bed is placed or moving your couch around may even make the space feel larger. And if things start to feel crowded, consider moving pieces to other rooms. You may end up with an entire home makeover without spending any money at all!
  2. Create a gallery wall. Gallery walls are very on trend right now, and for good reason. They’re a great way to display tons of different pieces and look good anywhere, from a living room to above a staircase. And chances are you already have most of the supplies to create a gallery wall of your own! Collect photos, art pieces and other decorative items from around the house and purchase supplemental pieces as needed, such as thrift store frames or inexpensive clocks or letters. Gallery walls have a naturally eclectic feel, so feel free to feature lots of different frames, colors and textures. Pinterest is a great place to turn to for gallery wall inspiration.
  3. Purchase new accessories. Throw pillows, blankets and bedding can transform a room without much effort. A new duvet cover can get your bedroom ready for spring and summer, and you can add a pop of color to your living room with a fresh set of throw pillows. Sometimes a tiny pick-me-up is all a room really needs.
  4. Choose a new paint color. Painting may seem like a big task, but it’s an inexpensive way to completely change a room. You can opt for a lighter color to brighten the space or add an accent wall to create drama. A fresh coat of paint is sure to make any room feel brand new.
  5. Add houseplants. Breathe new life into your home by adding a few new house plants. Greenery adds interesting focal points and textures into your rooms and it matches virtually any decor. Spring and summer are all about the fresh green outdoors, and plants bring that lively feeling inside. Just be sure to choose ones that you can keep alive!
