Missouri REALTORS® are not only real estate professionals – we're so much more. We're active in the community – serving on school boards, in elected positions and volunteering our time to make communities where we work a better place to be. We're educators – serving on panels and facilitating industry discussions. The philanthropic efforts of our members are inspiring and the difference they are making within their communities is significant. Our Member Spotlight series highlights these efforts and introduces some of our wonderful members.
This month, we are shining the Member Spotlight on Kirk Hewitt.
For more than 23 years, Kirk Hewitt, REALTOR® with Coldwell Banker Vanguard in Springfield, has dedicated his time to REALTORS® Helping People, Inc., a nonprofit that provides emergency home repairs to qualifying low-income homeowners. RHP aims to improve the living conditions of low income, elderly and disabled homeowners so they can remain in their homes.
As an active member and chair of RHP, as well as past president of the Greater Springfield Board of REALTORS®, Kirk provides countless hours of volunteer work for RHP. He is active in soliciting grants and donations for the annual auction, raising more than $150,000 in total. Kirk’s humble nature and commitment to hard work allow RHP to help at least 20 households per year.
REALTORS® Helping People, Inc. is a nonprofit organization providing emergency home repairs to persons in need. Since 1993, the fundraising committee has held an annual public auction to raise funds, which has grown to include live and silent auctions and contests complete with sponsorships and prizes. The organization works in conjunction with The Council of Churches of the Ozarks.
Kirk was a 2016 Missouri REALTOR® Good Neighbor Award nominee.
