Headshot of Tammie TuckerWhat makes Missouri REALTORS® so great are the members that we have. Not only do we care about real estate, but we care about each other as well. We know that by investing in our fellow REALTORS® we are making our community, and the industry as a whole, stronger. That’s why we created Missouri REALTORS® Leadership Academy, a program that trains emerging leaders so they may exert a positive influence on the future of the real estate industry.

Our new Leadership Academy Alumni Member Spotlight series highlights the graduates of the program. We want to introduce some of our wonderful REALTOR® leaders and showcase how Leadership Academy helped them grow. This month we are shining our spotlight on Tammie Tucker.

Tammie Tucker, a member of the Greater Springfield Board of REALTORS®, was previously a bank teller before finding a passion in real estate more than 30 years ago.  After helping her dad with the family rental properties, Tucker found she really enjoyed selling and was licensed in 1989.

Tucker’s favorite part about real estate is the personal connections she has formed with her clients over the years.

“So many of my clients are now my personal friends, and I have helped their children and grandchildren with their real estate needs,” she said.

Tucker was nominated for Leadership Academy by her local board before becoming board president.  She said the program gave her the confidence to lead and was the best investment in her life and career.

But her favorite part of the program was the lifelong friendships she gained.

“I made some lifelong friend and now have a professional support group I can go to anytime I need help or advice,” she said.

Since graduating from Leadership Academy in 2011, Tucker has held many local leadership positions.  She served as president of her local board, chaired the Professional Standards Committee and is currently a board member on her local MLS board.  Additionally, Tucker is involved with Missouri REALTORS® as a state director and co-chair for the Leadership Development Output Group.

Tucker also enjoys giving back to her local community by volunteering with a local elementary school's reading buddy program, class parties, backpack program and One Sole Purpose, which donates shoes to Title 1 schools.  Additionally, she volunteers at her local church in the high school youth and nursery departments.

“I have always tried to give back to my community that has been so good to me,” she said.

If you are interested in applying for Leadership Academy, applications open in February 2018 and will be due in June 2018.  We would love to have you in the next class!
