Baby it’s cold outside! Surviving the winter months is tough, especially when you’re constantly on the go. REALTORS® are always driving around and going in and out of homes, making it impossible to avoid the freezing temperatures. It’s easy to let the biting wind and icy roads get you down, but we promise that these tips will help you not only survive, but thrive this winter.

1. Get a cup that will keep your drink warm. There’s nothing more disappointing than looking forward to a hot sip of coffee only to discover that it’s ice cold. How can your drink warm you up if it’s not warm itself? Solve this problem by investing in a tumbler that will keep your drink hot for hours on end. Yeti’s and RTIC’s both work great at keeping your hot drinks hot, and they promise to keep cold drinks cold as well. No matter what beverage you’re drinking, these cups will be sure it stays at the right temperature.

2. Layer up. Dress in lots of layers to stay warm and to ensure you’re ready for any house you may find yourself in. Some homeowners crank up the heat and others refuse to turn it on. By dressing in layers you’ll be ready for any thermostat scenario you encounter, as well as whatever weather Missouri throws your way. Scarves, hats and cardigans are all fashionable additions to your favorite winter outfits. Bonus tip: wear warm clothes in bright colors to combat the winter blues!

3. Don’t forget your feet. If your toes constantly freeze in the winter months, consider getting a shoe liner that will keep them a bit warmer. Amazon has lots of options and Ugg makes insoles that look super cozy. If you’re feeling crafty you can even make a pair yourself. Bonus tip: wear golf shoes when venturing out on icy terrain! The cleat-like soles will keep you from falling.

4. Auto start your car. Constantly getting in and out of your car in the winter can be brutal. Don’t sit in your car shivering until it warms up-auto start it from the comfort of the indoors. If your car doesn’t come with auto start technology, you can buy it from a third party. It’s a luxury that’s worth the splurge. Just make sure the doors of your car are locked for safety precautions. Bonus tip: in the morning, set an alarm for five minutes before you want to leave so you don’t forget to start the car!

5. Keep your car fully stocked…with emergency gear and ice scrapers, that is! Keep a warm blanket, hand warmers, gloves, a hat, a flashlight and a granola bar in the trunk. You don’t want to be caught in an emergency without the things you need. And always make sure you have an ice scraper handy so you’re never tempted to drive with icy windshields-or forced to use a credit card.

6. Stay inside and enjoy it! Once you’re done working, running errands in the cold and cooking dinner, it’s finally time to wind down. Light your favorite candle, curl up by the fire (or use your laptop to recreate one if you don’t have a fireplace), snuggle up under your favorite blanket and turn on a movie or open up a book. The winter months have their faults, but no one can deny that sometimes it’s nice to relax and enjoy the snow from inside.
