We're active in the community - serving on school boards, in elected positions and volunteering our time to make communities where we work a better place to be. We're educators – serving on panels and facilitating industry discussions. The philanthropic efforts of our members is inspiring and the difference they are making within their communities is significant. Our Member Spotlight series highlights these efforts and introduces some of our wonderful members.
This month, we are shining the Member Spotlight on Mike Price.
For the past eight years, Mike Price, REALTOR® at RedKey Realty Leaders in St. Louis, has volunteered with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and worked towards a cure. Price understands the effects cystic fibrosis can have on an individual and their loved ones, and is dedicated to helping those suffering from the disease.
In his volunteer work with the foundation, Price has served in a variety of ways. He regularly organizes the fundraising events, such as Cycle for Life and Festival Ale, and recently served as a chairperson of Great Strides, the largest Cystic Fibrosis Foundation fundraising event. Price also spearheaded the Lemonade Stands fundraiser, which challenged people across the United States to hold Lemonade Stands to raise money for the foundation. In the past year, Price volunteered 120 hours and raised more than $10,000. He is dedicated to the organization, and brings others together to fight for cure.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation works to cure cystic fibrosis and give those battling it the opportunity to have fulfilling lives by funding research, treatment and care. In the past 30 years, the life expectancy of individuals with cystic fibrosis has doubled. Much of this success is due to the foundation's research, care and funding. The foundation currently funds more cystic fibrosis research than any other organization.
Price was a 2015 Missouri REALTOR® Good Neighbor Award nominee.
