This month, we are shining the Member Spotlight on Kirk Hewitt.
In 1993,
Kirk Hewitt, REALTOR
® at
Coldwell Banker – Vanguard in Springfield, Mo., recognized poor living conditions of many low-income and elderly homeowners within the community. He immediately knew he had to help and helped found
REALTORS® Helping People, Inc., an organization helping homeowners in need within the community. In 1999, Hewitt received the Margaret Martin Cooperative Spirit award from the
Greater Springfield Board of REALTORS® for his dedication to the Greater Springfield Board of REALTORS
® and the Springfield community.
Hewitt was a driving force behind the organization creation, and has remained active for the past 22 years. Hewitt recruited 400 volunteer hours and personally contributed 100 hours. Every year, he organizes the annual fund-raising auction, which is now in its 22nd year. In 2015, the auction raised $20,000 and approximately 250 people attended. Hewitt's communication and leadership skills have significantly impacted the success of the organization. As a result of his dedication, more than 30 people were served last year within the Springfield area. Hewitt currently serves as the president of the organization.
REALTORS® Helping People, Inc. is a 501 © (3) non-profit organization that provides emergency home repairs to improve the living conditions of low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners within the Springfield community. The organization is partners with Connections Handyman Services to complete repairs, inspections and screenings of properties. REALTORS
