Missouri REALTORS® serve their community in so many ways. From serving on boards to creating organizations, the philanthropic efforts of our REALTORS ® are inspiring. Our Member Spotlight series highlights these efforts and introduces some of our wonderful members.
This month, we are shining the Member Spotlight on James Dye.
In 1986,
James Dye, REALTOR® at
Centruy 21 Peak, Dye & Associates, Inc. in Mexico, Missouri, was appointed by Gov. John Ashcroft to the Missouri State Cancer Commission. The commission served as the governing board of Ellis Fischel Cancer Hospital. Then in 1990, the ownership of the board was transferred to the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics. During this transition, Dye was asked to stay on the advisory board and serve as president. He understands the impact cancer can have on individuals and their families, as both of his parents passed away after battling cancer. Dye has remained active on the board and been involved in many projects for the past 29 years.
He has served as president of the advisory board three times and co-chaired the Wyatt Guest House Fundraising Committee. As co-chairman, he helped raise more than 2 million dollars for the construction and maintenance of the The Wyatt Guest House, a friendly place for patients and their families to stay after treatment. Dye also co-sponsors the mobile mammogram vehicle, which travels around the state to provide mammograms to women residing in rural areas. In the past year, he volunteered more than 50 hours, and has donated several thousands of dollars throughout his time with the organization.
Ellis Fischel Cancer Center works to improve the quality of life for thousands of people and provide the latest cancer treatment in Mid-Missouri. The center provides patients with a variety of resources, including open communication with medical teams, financial assistance for those in need and constant support. The Ellis Fischel Cancer Center is part of the University of Missouri Health Care system.
Dye was a
2015 Missouri REALTOR® Good Neighbor Award nominee.
