Since it’s already mid-month, you probably already know that June is National Homeownership Month. Now, we all know that every month celebrates multiple themes, but this is one of the spotlights that we hope shines brightest.
Part of our mission is to promote and protect homeownership in this great country of ours. We promote homeownership to millions of Americans who really aspire to reap the benefits, most of which are emotional and individual. There are dozens of reasons for owning a home, but the comfort, joy and satisfaction of having a place to call our own, shelter ourselves and our family, and give us a sense of community, still remains the dream of a vast majority of Americans. We, as Missouri REALTORS® get to help them achieve that dream. And then, we work to convince our lawmakers to ‘do no harm’ when it comes to homeownership by protecting tax benefits, credit availability, and providing many of the ingredients that help turn a ‘house’ into a ‘home’, and turn many ‘homes’ into a ‘community.’
Our license may read Real Estate Broker or Salesperson, but we have so many opportunities to be Real Estate Professional or Real Estate Advocate. We have a high calling that we should all be proud of. There are about 19,000 REALTORS® in Missouri and over 2.5 million housing units in our state. We have such an opportunity to make a positive impact on the economic health of Missouri, for all Missourians.
