Many of us just returned from the Realtors® Conference and Expo in San Diego. If you couldn’t make it, here is a recap of what took place.

Missouri Highlights – we were well represented!

  • Our very own Elizabeth Mendenhall was installed as NAR’s 2016 First Vice President at the Installation Ceremony.
  • The Missouri Young Professionals Network was awarded the State Network of the Year at the YPN Networking Reception. Here is a bit about how this group earned this prestigious award.

  • Diane Ruggiero, CEO of the Kansas City Regional Association of REALTORS®, was awarded the William R. Magel Award at the Board of Directors Meeting.

Speaking of the Board of Directors, here are some key updates from the meeting on Monday:

Board Approves Free Forms For All Members

The NAR Board of Directors approved a partnership between NAR and zipLogix® to provide a national forms and transaction management benefit to all NAR members.

The new zipLogix® benefit means members will get free access to various forms libraries of zipForm Plus®, as well as zipTMS, the company’s transaction management system with unlimited document storage. In areas where local and state associations license their forms to zipLogix®, REALTORS® will have free access to local and state forms libraries.

Military Housing Support

The board approved a resolution in support of a federal Basic Allowance for Housing that aims to ensure that members of the military who do not live on military facilities receive a fair amount of money to cover their housing expenses. The resolution positions NAR to engage in discussions about the importance of the housing allowance system as some lawmakers consider changing the system to save money.

Consumer Advertising Campaign

A new consumer advertising campaign is in the works. Entitled “Get REALTOR®”, this millennial-focused campaign is currently in production. A social media campaign was kicked off at the San Diego meetings, and television spots will begin airing in February 2016.

Here is a full report from the board meeting.

Congratulations to the MO YPN Chapter, who brought home some impressive hardware from San Diego! Missouri should be proud of it's YPN effort, and here's why:
During the Local Leadership Idea Exchange "Mega Board Break Out Session", YPN and Leadership Academy became the predominant topic of discussion. After over 1 hour of discussion with over 100 people in the room, we realized one thing. When you have a great YPN Group and a Vibrant Leadership Academy, you are building a foundation for your Associations future!
There are Mega Locals across the country that need our help.
