I am just back from New Orleans where I was excited to join 17,000 REALTORS® and industry experts from across the country at the REALTORS Conference & Expo, November 6-10. Missouri REALTORS was so well represented at this annual meeting.

This year’s conference theme, “REALTORS in Full Swing,” encouraged REALTORS to take full advantage of new technology, tips from top industry professionals and the opportunity to make new contacts from across the globe. Attendees were given the chance to hear from real estate experts and leaders in featured talks and panels.

Throughout the week REALTORS participated in workshops, forums and classes to help prepare them and their businesses for 2015. This is one of the ways REALTORS raise their professionalism and skills with specialized knowledge and expertise.

Here are just a few important NAR updates I wanted to pass along:

The “.Realtor” domain is now available. In fact, over 80,000 have been sold. The first 500,000 REALTORS to claim there’s get one free. You can still get yours at www.claim.realtor

REALTOR of the Future Update. As part of a wide-ranging set of recommendations to raise the bar on REALTOR professionalism, the NAR Board of Directors at its November 10th meeting in New Orleans approved the drafting of a proposed "aspirational" Code of Excellence to be brought to the board at a future meeting for approval. The goal is to raise the practice of real estate measurably through increased training in the competencies that consumer’s value. These competencies include the stewardship of property listing data, privacy and security of consumer information, advocacy of property rights, community involvement and technology.

Core Standards Update. There was a great deal of attention at the Convention to the new Core Standards that all state and local associations must reach by June 2015. Missouri REALTORS is planning a statewide Organizational Standards Summit for Association Executives and 2015 Presidents of all of our Local Boards/Associations. We would like to do this in January in conjunction with the Business Conference in Jefferson City. Missouri REALTORS will pay for all travel and lodging expenses for the AE and President to attend this important meeting as we work together to ensure all Local Boards/Associations in Missouri meet the June 2015 deadline on Core Standards. Please stay tuned for more details.

Together we are making a HUGE difference for our industry.
