It was great to see so many of you at the hybrid Fall Business Conference in Kansas City, where over 400 members registered to attend both in-person and online!
We began the week with the Opening General Session, where Chris Goode, founder of Ruby Jean’s Juicery, spoke on investing not only dollars in disadvantaged communities but positioning those dollars alongside purpose and impact. This session resonated greatly with our members.
On Thursday, following Output Group and Committee meetings, we hosted our Emerging Issues Forum. We heard from Bill Dedman, a Pulitzer and Peabody award-winning investigative reporter, as he broke down a three-year Newsday investigation that uncovered widespread evidence of unequal treatment by real estate agents. Immediately following, we hosted our Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony. This very special event highlighted not only our 2021 award recipients but also our 18th Leadership Academy class.
Congratulations to the following Annual Award recipients!
REALTOR® of the Year: Nate Johnson, St. Louis
REALTOR® Salesperson of the Year: Brian Jared, Greater Springfield
Layne Morrill Award: La Nora Kay, Tri-Lakes
Richard A. Mendenhall Award: Ryan Gattermeir, Bagnell Dam
Elizabeth J. Mendenhall E3 Award: In memory of Sharon Keating, Jefferson City
Bruce Aydt Code of Ethics Leadership Award: Carole Baras, St. Louis
Brady Stevens Award: Blake Werner, Jefferson City
The conference concluded Friday morning with our Board of Directors meeting. Additional information regarding actions taken can be found in my most recent Common Ground post, “Fall Board of Directors Meeting Minutes & Highlights.”
I hope the event photos tell the rest of the story. As always, these are available for your download and use. In addition, we invite you to access all recorded sessions from the Fall Business Conference.
Thank you again for the opportunity to serve as your 2021 President. It was a wonderful last business conference as your President. I look forward to my remaining time on the Leadership Team where I will continue to advocate on behalf of our members and consumers in protecting the American Dream of home and property ownership.
