Missouri REALTORS®:

The NAR NXT conference recently concluded in Anaheim, CA. The theme for this year’s event was “Own the Moment.” Throughout the week, several Missouri REALTORS® were either recognized for their contributions to the real estate industry or served as event presenters. We’re extremely proud of the following individuals!

  • Jennifer Langston-Justus was honored as Missouri’s 2023 REALTOR® of the Year during Thursday’s General Session!

  • John Mayfield presented “20 Team Meeting Ideas in 20 Minutes.” Focused on delivering creative and innovative meetings to REALTOR® teams, this session highlighted how fun and exciting it can be to energize office teams to higher levels of production.

  • Tracey Hawkens presented “Cybersecurity & Safety Blueprint: Protecting Your Brokerage, Team, and Clients from Cyber Threats and AI/Deepfakes.” This exciting session helped REALTORS® gain a comprehensive understanding of the risks and defenses in the real estate industry and develop a customized safety plan for their brokerage and team.

On Thursday, we hosted our annual Missouri Caucus. As always, this is a great place for Missouri REALTORS® in attendance to network and discuss current issues. Immediately following, Missouri REALTORS® participated in the Region 9 Caucus and reception – a collaboration of the Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma state associations. This meeting provided an opportunity for open discussion among members regarding upcoming actions at the board of directors meeting, including brief highlights of recent and upcoming happenings from partner state associations.

NAR’s Board of Directors met on Friday, November 14. Main topics of discussion were related to a series of tax policy proposals and strengthening NAR’s policy on climate change risk and property sustainability, "the benefits of which will help preserve our environment and address ongoing climate change risks, while supporting our nation as a vibrant, healthy and prosperous place to live and work."

Additional action items addressed at the Board of Directors’ meeting include:

  • Tax Policy
  • Legal Action
  • Real Property Valuation
  • Code of Ethics

You can read more and review additional actions by visiting the Board of Directors’ Special Report.

Lastly, I would like to thank our members who served on an NAR Committee in 2023. Your service to our industry is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Breanna Vanstrom
