It all started with a $10 bill...

…and a card telling the staff at the Missouri REALTORS® to “pay it forward.” As a result of the abundant care and generosity of my fellow flock, that $10 turned into $300.

The Missouri REALTORS staff is now using the money to “adopt a buddy” through the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri. One out of every four children in the Food Bank’s service area wakes up each day not knowing where they will get their next meal. These funds will provide one child with a Buddy Pack for an entire school year. The Buddy Pack is essentially a backpack of food to sustain children over the weekend.

Cash donations

This summer, Missouri REALTORS staff are spending their Friday lunch breaks to help serve at the Food Bank’s “Summer Food 4 Kids” program. This is just the beginning of a great partnership between our team and the Food Bank. Future plans include additional volunteering including helping with the annual Cranberry Crawl 5k/10k.

Earlier this summer, Veterans United Home Loans proclaimed May “Random Acts of Kindness” Month and with $10 encouraged the Missouri REALTORS to give back to the community and make a difference in someone’s day. The staff shared ideas of how to “pay it forward” and decided to go big and partner with the Food Bank and help fight hunger.

The Missouri REALTORS are defenders of the American Dream and there is no room for hunger in the American Dream.

We know as a REALTOR you are continuously giving back to your community. We want to hear how. Comment below and tweet using #MRpayitforward. You may just win $2,500 for your charity.

Great to hear of your service, Lisa. It sounds like you are definitely paying it forward! You should consider applying for the Missouri Good Neighbor Award. Let me know if you want details or just click on the Related Resources link above.

Two fish and three loaves ministries ( a group I'm a part of) found out there were several families coming to our congregation who were laid off and did not eat before coming to service. We serve a free lunch on first Sundays and give away free food (from Food Bank) every Wednesday evening after Bible Class. Love working with this group because I am #7 of 8 children. If it were not for programs like these, I may not be here today! Thank God for Food Bank and all those who donate to it!
