July 14 was the last day for the Governor to take action on bills passed by the General Assembly in the 2016 session.
The Governor waited until Friday, July 14 to sign HB 1862, landlord/tenant.
One bill he vetoed was SB 867 that contains the provisions that allow Kansas City to require limited liability companies who own property in the city to file an affidavit listing the name and street address of a natural person who has control of the property. I’ve not spoken to the bill sponsor or the representatives of Kansas City, so I don’t know if an attempt will be made to override the veto.
Sen. Eric Schmitt’s SB 572 among other reforms requires that notice of the nuisance and the order for abatement must be given both to the occupant of the property and the owner at their last known address.
SB 932 contains changes in the notary law to make it simpler to notarize digital signatures as well as other changes dealing with notaries.
SB 833 includes a statement that nothing is the section dealing with surveyors shall be construed to preclude the practice to title insurance business as provided in chapter 381 or the practice of law as governed by the Missouri Supreme Court. Also included in SB 833 is a provision that clarifies the ability of title insurance companies to issue closing protection letters and charge for those letters.
