Missouri REALTORS® are so much more than real estate professionals. They dedicate their time to serving on school boards and running for elected positions. They educate, serve on panels, volunteer, and facilitate industry discussions. Their philanthropic efforts are inspiring, and the difference they are making within their communities is significant. Our Member Spotlight series highlights these efforts and introduces some of our wonderful members.

This month, we are shining our Member Spotlight on Beth Franklin.

Beth Franklin, from Keller Williams Platinum Partners in Lee’s Summit, consistently gives back to her community. Beth has served on the advisory council for the Salvation Army of Independence since 2010, serving as chair of the council from 2018 to 2019. She also serves on the Development Committee which focuses on raising funds for general operations.

Prior to COVID-19, the Development Committee hosted an annual "Doing the Most Good" dinner and a "Red Kettle Kick-off" luncheon. Beth was an active participant and solicited major sponsorships for each event. Throughout the pandemic, she also helped redesign fundraising efforts with safe, COVID-friendly events. Events included a virtual fund drive in place of the “Doing the Most Good” dinner, a “Christmas in July” luncheon and toy drive in an open-air venue in independence, and an outside chili to-go lunch in November.

“Her [Beth’s] contributions to keeping the Salvation Army Advisory Board running during the pandemic, using technology she uses as a premier Metro Kansas City Area REALTOR®, kept us going,” said Hugo Becker, Chair of the Independence Salvation Army Advisory Board. “Beth's continued dedication to the work of the Salvation Army has touched numerous lives for the better.”

Beth also rings bells for the Salvation Army every Christmas season and has recruited many other people to do the same. She has volunteered at numerous holiday events that are open to members of the community and collects toys each year for the Christmas store. She also serves as a member of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary which focuses on meeting the needs of children in the Kansas City metro area. In 2020, Beth was awarded the "Doing the Most Good Award" by the Salvation Army of Independence and received the 2020 Community Service Award from the Kansas City Regional Association of REALTORS® for her work with the Salvation Army.

Beth is also an active member of the Rotary Club of Independence and the Independence Chamber of Commerce.

We celebrate Beth for not only her commitment to the real estate industry but for giving back to her community, specifically those in need.
