REALTOR® Resolutions

Happy new year, REALTORS®!

You did it. You adapted and made it through one of the craziest, most unpredictable years ever. In fact, you came out on top, with impressive sales, stronger client relationships and new, innovative ways of conducting virtual business. There is so much to be proud of, and we hope you take some time to reflect on your many successes from 2020.

But don’t stop the momentum. If there is anything this year has taught us, it’s that life as we know it can turn on a dime. There’s no room for complacency in an industry as fast-paced and ever-evolving as real estate.

So, let’s ensure that the next 365 days are full of more growing, learning, adapting and evolving. You can do this by setting some REALTOR® Resolutions for the new year. These are the guiding goals and principles to make your business and your 2021 a major success.

  1. Get motivated. By coming up with your own set of REALTOR® Resolutions, you’re already halfway there. Once you establish goals, figure out how exactly you will achieve them. Hang your list of goals and action steps in your office, look at it everyday and remember that progress starts with baby steps.
  2. Improve the customer experience. Examine the customer’s experience from initial conversations to closing and beyond. And then make that experience better. Improve communication, introduce them to local resources, plan client appreciation gifts and events and nurture the relationship after the fact. Do whatever it takes to leave a positive, lasting impression.
  3. Build your social presence. Social media is an important piece of the REALTOR® puzzle. It improves brand awareness and may even generate leads. To better connect with clients on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn, set a social media schedule and stick to it. And be on the lookout for different ways to stay on trend and up your social media game.
  4. Update your headshot. This is an easy, yet essential one. Find a local photographer and get it done. You won’t regret it.
  5. Connect with local businesses. Form mutually beneficial relationships with other small business owners in the community. They can drive potential clients your way, as well as promote your services on their social media. And vice versa.
  6. Learn more. And more often. Whether that’s using the Missouri REALTOR® Video Vault to sharpen up on skills or finding a new real estate podcast to listen to on your drive to work, your intellectual curiosity will keep you on the cutting edge of the industry.
  7. Breathe. It is way too easy to get caught up in a job, especially if you are working from home. It is important to create boundaries for yourself and establish time to relax, unwind and do things you enjoy. Breathe. You got this.
