If you’re in the mood for some romance, don’t bother booking a trip to the ocean or Paris-there are plenty of romantic spots right here in Missouri. In honor of Valentine’s Day, we asked Missouri REALTORS® to share some of the best spots in Missouri for romantic getaways, proposals or engagement photos, and even wedding venues. REALTORS® know the local market better than anyone, so these destinations are worth visiting whether they’re in your backyard or a few hours away.

1. Bed and breakfasts. Missouri is full of wonderful bed and breakfasts. Each and every one is unique, and you probably don’t have to travel far to find one. Missouri REALTORS® from all over the state shared their favorites.

If you are in the northeast part of the state, check out the Dubach Inn, Belvedre Inn or the Rockcliffe Mansion. If you live around Springfield, the Historic Walnut Street Inn is a great romantic place. The Loganberry Inn Bed and Breakfast in Fulton comes highly recommended. And if you love wine, book a room at the White Mule Winery B&B in Gasconade County.

2. Chandler Hills Winery. This breathtaking winery, located just outside of St. Louis in Defiance, is described as understated and elegant. It has a 5,000 square foot deck that overlooks six acres of vineyards, lakes, rolling hills and the Osage Valley. Enjoy great wine, good food and even live music during your visit. It’s also a great location for weddings.

3. Botanical garden
. The Missouri Botanical Garden boasts 79 acres of displays, including formal gardens and indoor conservatories. Located in St. Louis, this destination is perfect for those who love nature and gardens. You can take tours or explore on your own. The gorgeous flowers also make it the perfect backdrop for a surprise proposal or engagement photos. Bonus: Consider staying at the Fleur de Lys Mansion or the Magnolia St. Louis.

4. Branson
. There’s something hauntingly romantic about the Titanic, which can probably be chalked up to the movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Obviously, nobody can visit the real thing, but Branson has its own little slice of the ship. Visit its Titanic museum to see an exact replica of the Titanic’s Grand Staircase, as well as artifacts from the boat and interactive activities. This spot is sure to thrill any Titanic or history lover, and the staircase is a great romantic photo op. Check out their wedding and proposal packages if you have an extra special event to plan for.

If you need a place to stay in Branson, the
Stonebridge Resort is an excellent option. It’s in a gated community, so it feels secluded despite being a mere mile away from  Silver Dollar City. Enjoy golf, swimming, hiking and sports all at this luxurious resort. Bonus: While you’re in Branson, why not take advantage of its lake cruises?

5. Les Bourgeois Vineyards.
This winery, located right outside of Columbia in Rocheport, is a must visit destination for wine lovers. It is well known for its romantic wedding options, and would be a fun place to hold an anniversary or vow renewal party as well. This centrally located winery is wonderful for any occasion that you and your significant other may be celebrating.

6. Union station
, Kansas City’s Union Station, built in 1914, has 850,000 square feet full of history. The building is breathtaking, with 95-foot ceilings and 3,500 pound chandeliers. It holds fun events throughout the year, and has delicious restaurants you can dine at. It makes the perfect backdrop for engagement photos, and it even holds weddings. Bonus: If you’re visiting from out of town, book a room at the award winning Raphael Hotel.

7. Stonewater Cove
. This all-inclusive, luxury resort is located on Table Rock Lake. This destination has anything you could want in a getaway, from adventurous excursions to pampering spa treatments. Stonewater Cove could even be an option for small weddings. It’s an expensive retreat, but reviews say the cost is well worth it.

8. Hermann
. Hermann, in the heart of Missouri wine country, is full of beautiful views, vineyards and classic bed and breakfasts. The Inn at Hermannhof and Alpenhorn Gasthaus both come highly recommended. Take a step back from your fast-paced life with a getaway to this historic German community.

Thank you to all the REALTORS® who shared their favorite romantic spots with us. We couldn’t include them all, but check out their recommendations, and share your own, on this Common Ground discussion. Happy Valentine’s Day!
