We're active in the community serving on school boards, in elected positions and volunteering our time to make communities where we work a better place to be. We're educators – serving on panels and facilitating industry discussions. The philanthropic efforts of our members are inspiring and the difference they are making within their communities is significant. Our Member Spotlight series highlights these efforts and introduces some of our wonderful members.

This month, we are shining the Member Spotlight on Ethel Mae Tennis.

After working to improve her community's park system as chairman of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, Ethel Mae Tennis, REALTOR® with Hubbert Realty in Bolivar, was elected first chairman of Friends of Dunnegan Park. The organization was created to develop a youth park on the grounds of the former Bolivar pool, and Ethel Mae personally raised more than $30,000 and was instrumental in all aspects of the project.

Ethel Mae was honored by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services as one of ten Outstanding Older Workers of the Year in 2013. She also received a resolution from Senator Mike Parson and Representative Sue Entlicher, and a proclamation from Mayor John Best.  In fact, October 4, 2013 is designated "Ethel Mae Tennis Day." Additionally, she was elected to the Bolivar city council in April 2016.

Friends of Dunnegan Park is a nonprofit organization created in 2014 by Bolivar Mayor John Best to raise funds for local park projects.

Ethel Mae was a 2016 Missouri REALTOR® Good Neighbor Award nominee.

If you’re in the spotlight in your community or know someone who is – let us know. We’d love to shine our Missouri REALTORS® Spotlight on you!
