Missouri REALTORS® are not only real estate professionals – we're so much more. We're active in the community – serving on school boards, in elected positions and volunteering our time to make communities where we work a better place to be. We're educators – serving on panels and facilitating industry discussions. The philanthropic efforts of our members are inspiring and the difference they are making within their communities is significant. Our Member Spotlight series highlights these efforts and introduces some of our wonderful members.
This month, we are shining the Member Spotlight on Trina Colwell.
Trina Colwell, REALTOR® at RE/MAX Lakeside in Shell Knob, founded His House Foundation in 2009 to fill the many needs in her community by providing free home cooked meals every Tuesday evening to anyone in need. Additionally, food is provided for families to take home to sustain them throughout the week. Shell Knob has one of the highest poverty rates in the state of Missouri, and Trina’s efforts have greatly benefited those in need.
Trina works hands-on serving drinks at the weekly dinners, educating the community on services offered and raising funds to help cover operating costs. She also facilitated a partnership with a local church to combine and grow a youth group that brings together youths from different schools and economic statuses, which has encouraged more to attend weekly. Trina boldly loves without expecting anything in return and serves others without a second thought, but she couldn’t do it without her hardworking, hands-on board. Her contributions helped acquire two buildings for the foundation, increase volunteers and attendants and add more partnering organizations.
His House Foundation provides a centralized location where resources can be combined and people can be connected to meet needs within the community. Youth, young adults and young families can meet for support, structured activities, educational opportunities and a healthy meal with the service of organizations and volunteers. His House Foundation practices feeding, understanding, educating and loving – all while sharing the gospel.
Trina was a 2016 Missouri REALTOR® Good Neighbor Award nominee.
