REALTOR® Relief Fund Helps 225 Missouri Families in June and July

As your CEO, nothing has made me more proud than the relief we have been able to provide families throughout Missouri over the past two months. And, as you may be aware, we have had a Missouri REALTORS® Relief Foundation for many years which has allowed us to do so. This fund is specifically there to help REALTORS® in our state who have suffered from man-made or natural disaster to their home or office; the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Relief Foundation (RRF), however, is a 501 (c)(3) that was created to help the public.

After the May 22 tornadoes ripped through Missouri, and the flooding that has plagued our state since early spring, we wanted to do more than just help our members. So, we applied for and received $175,000 in grant money from the NAR RRF. The grant program ran through July 31 and was facilitated in cooperation with our Local Boards/Associations.

I am extremely pleased to announce that our efforts have helped 225 Missouri families pay their monthly mortgage or rent payment in June and July. Our grants were limited to a maximum of $1,000 per family. The grant total of our efforts was $182,067 to these 225 families. What is even more impressive is all of the $182,067 that has been granted is from individual REALTOR® donations from across the country. 

It makes me proud that our organization could immediately jump in to help with monthly rent and mortgage payments for those most impacted. As we always say, “there is no place like home,” and having the ability to help families stay in or get back in their residence is and will always remain our priority. 

I’d like to note that most of the funding relief went to victims of flooding in St. Charles County and tornado victims in Eldon and Jefferson City. Those affected in southwest Missouri also received REALTOR® relief funds.

I want to send a special thank you to the National Association’s REALTORS® Relief Foundation trustees and staff, as well as the Missouri REALTORS® Relief Foundation, and Local Board/Association staff across Missouri who worked with us to make this happen. 

As we move forward, I hope you will consider donating a few dollars to the Missouri REALTORS® Relief Foundation so we are able to continue helping our members when they are in need.
