Missouri REALTORS®,

I hope you were able to participate in our recent Spring Business Conference. Before I dive into highlights from this event, I want you to know how proud of our members I am for continuing to advocate for our industry. As many of you know, my theme for this year is It’s Your Story. I recently discussed how story is a powerful communication tool that each of us use every day. During our Capitol visits, your willingness to share your story with elected officials regarding property rights and homeownership opportunities spoke volumes about the importance of ensuring the American Dream of homeownership remains a reality. For that, I thank you.

Now, let’s take a look at a few highlights from the event. On Tuesday, over 350 REALTORS® from across the state participated in our Capitol Conference. This was an opportunity for REALTORS® to speak with their elected officials about issues important to our industry. Beforehand, REALTORS® heard from John Handcock and Michael Kelley on our current political landscape. This was a very exciting conversation! Watch the recording. Governor Mike Parson served as the keynote speaker where he provided words of wisdom over lunch. It was truly an honor to hear from Governor Parson. More importantly, we appreciate his support of our industry.

Following legislative visits, members participated in governance meetings and a very successful Opening General Session. During this session, members heard from Missouri REALTORS® Leadership Team on topics that would be discussed throughout the conference, including important updates taking place within the association.

Wednesday, governance meetings continued, followed by the Emerging Issues Forum. During this session, attendees heard from technology executive Mark Lesswing on topics related to FinTech and PropTech and their future impact on the real estate transaction. If you missed this event, I encourage you to view the recording.

The evening concluded with the Robert W. Borgmann RPAC Auction and dinner at the Capitol Bluffs Event Center. With your support, over $83,883 was raised! The conference concluded Thursday with the Board of Directors’ meeting. To learn more, I’ve provided a full list of action items approved by the Board of Directors, below:

  • 2021 audit report
  • Funding for the Professional Development Output Group to host a challenge and/or event encouraging members to complete Fair Haven within the calendar year
  • The requirement that in order to serve as a Chair or Vice-Chair or Executive Committee member for Missouri REALTORS® in 2023, you must have completed Fair Haven and C2EX
  • Funding to develop a campaign video showcasing Diversity & Inclusion within the association
  • A contribution to the Missouri Chamber Political Institute

As always, I hope the 2022 Spring Business Conference photos tell the rest of the story. And remember, photos are available for you to download and share.

We look forward to seeing you for the Fall Business Conference, taking place September 20-22 in Chesterfield, MO.

Sincerely,

John Mayfield
President, Missouri REALTORS®
